When installing Office XP under Windows XP, it stops and a massage apears: '''Access denied, You havent got the right permission or folder used by another program/user ... blah blah Cannot write in ''Common Files'' folder.'''
That happen when an HP scanner driver has been installed.
Then i uninstalled the driver when that occured, and notting changed.
Cannot even open the folder itself
I have tried everything:
-tried to install in Safe Mode
-Changed the folder attributes to full access
-I AM the Addministrator
-Checked with UNLOCKER software from http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
It says an: '''errror basInitLibrary-inialization of basic library failed! Check out INI file or instal program again please'''
-Tested with HijackThis v1.99.1
[unfortunately no space to copy it all in here..]

Please I really need Ofice XP
as the Open Office hasn't got all the abilities.
I got a few more programs not running
but the real problem is the CommonFiles folder locked

Uninstall the older version of Office, then try to reinstall the new softwear. I had the same problem when I moved to Office 2007

May be your %root directory% /program files / common files/ is encrypted! First try to decrypt it. Windows keeps all its Office, speech, wordarts etc and utilities like Adobe, virus scanner put in this directory and installer cannot open the folder to copy the files. To check right click on common files folder- point to properties- in advanced button- check encrypted is checked or not.

once you install, or re-set up, homestead windows XP, you likely had to reformat your problematical rigidity, which completely bumped off each little thing on the problematical disk. Sorry to might desire to be the only to tell you approximately this undesirable information. :-(
