I just spent an hour solving this crashing problem. All you need to do when your computer is crashing is boot up in safe mode OR regular mode and go into command prompt. If you are in regular vista mode, you can override the crashing explorer screen by using CTRL+ALT+DELETE to go into task manager -> file, then type in CMD. Once on the command prompt screen:

1) CD\ (to go back to C:\)

2) CD USERS

3) CD (Your computer's name). If you don't know it, type in DIR at this point and it should show you

4) CD DESKTOP

so right now it should look something like C:\USERS\(Your Name)\DESKTOP. If you type in DIR you should see the Godmode folder listed in your desktop.

5) type in RD GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

to check if this worked, type in DIR. The constant crashing should have stopped, and the GodMode folder should be gone.

Edit - add 3E01C} after the 9971204... part under the GodMode file name b/c Yahoo cuts this part off.

I did the same thing and nothing I did would solve the problem including Registry repair and using a complete Windows backup. Every time it would just say Windows Explorer has stopped working.

There is a fix but I could not open anything to use it(even in Safe Mode) I had to reinstall Windows.

If you can get the Vista DVD to open when in Windows you can install using the Upgrade mode and it will fix the problem and save you're files. I could not but I save all my files on a different partition so it was no big deal.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.pchealthcleaner.net

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

hi airflow, when the system crashes to correct the problem is easy but it is something that everyone should know how to correct it so what to do is install your windows diskette in the dvd driver then reboot when you see your windows logo start tapping f12 at the top of your keyboard then boot from usb cdrom your computer will do a quick scan then ask your your product number it is on your box that your software came in put it in correctly then next agree with microsoft then next again this is what is important hit advance there you see your petition delete the petition then go ahead install your software it will ask you questions like name password if you are installing windows xp do the long version format okay it is installed and you see a trash can on your computer right click on start and hit properties there you have two choices check classical desktop and apply then exit ah icons. then install your rescource diskett or tuneup disk and install your drivers then when you get online install your important updates good luck hope i was helpful to you

Every file present in your registry contains a command or direction for every program and application on your computer. Registry files are the files that give your computer the instructions for what to do next. If these registry files get corrupt or misplaced, your computer fails to understand what to do. In these instances, your computer loses control, eventually leading to a crash. At this stage the priority is to fix these registry files. In such situations it is suggested that you do not try to fix the registry yourself. Immediately find registry cleaner software and scan your computer to locate any errors. This software will identify all the missing entries or errors, restoring them right away. In many cases, your computer will be back to normal. It is recommended that you run this software once a month for best results. I should like to commend Registry Easy http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com

to you !

all you have to do is

1: Open task manager

2: Click on new task

3: Find and open your Winrar.exe(If you dont have get it from here http://www.winrar.com.sg/download/wrar390.exe)

4: Once it is opened, use your winrar to find that GodMode folder and delete it using winrar.
