E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
Here's what it says:

E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntustudio.org_ubuntustudio_dists_karmic_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

I remember trying to download an application using the terminal. But I never got to see it on my app list. It was Ubuntu Studios. Help please. I need to get this fixed and I can't find an answer on the net - or maybe I'm just poor in searching.

Please help. Thanks.

Synaptic is just another program.

Using a terminal type

sudo apt-get update

-This could fix a problem with your sources list.

If not:

sudo apt-get remove synaptic

sudo apt-get install synaptic

sudo apt-get update

Hopefully that will fix any problems with it!

The Synaptic equipment supervisor installs a software with all the different inevitably classes/data to run., upload/do away with classes does no longer. Multiverse and Universe are 2 difrrent categories of applications. Universe being Open-source (unfastened) whilst Multiverse expenses money.

There is fewa ways of download software. Seems you tried from synaptic package manager, and sudo from terminal. Have you tried using software packager or there own company website.

Make sure you have download the .deb file or install the .deb file.

I've used 8 different destros before, thats why i know a bit.
