We have a server currently running Windows 2003 Standard. It has 2GB of RAM currently installed and needs to have 4GB more added to it. Win2003 Standard only supports 4GB max. Enterprise edition supports up to 32GB total. Does it have to be 64-bit to support this, or can the 32-bit Enterprise edition support up to 32GB?

Since our Standard installation is 32-bit, I would like to just upgrade to 32-bit Enterprise edition so that I don't have to format. But I want to be able to have it support more than 3GB or 4GB of RAM in 32-bit. Is this possible?

Yes. As long as your server hardware can handle 32GB of RAM 32-bit version of enterprise will work for you.

I believe it is....why not head over to www.crucial.com and do a free scan (takes about 45 seconds) It will tell you RAM speed and timings as well as offer upgrade options. You can buy from them (good company) or take the info you get and shop www.tigerdirect.com or www.newegg.com
