Simply save your presentation to pps (For PowerPoint 2003) or ppsx (For PowerPoint 2007), the slideshow will open directly when users double-click on the files in these formats. However, the pps and ppsx files are still editable, in case the users make attempt to change the content in other ways, please refer to this tutorial about how to make your presentation read-only:

1st save the slide show in a folder and then go to the Start menu. Under All programs you get Microsoft office Click on that then you Will get Ms Word, excel, PowerPoint etc. Click open power point. And then go to file in the opened new presentation and click on open. when you do that a browser will open up. In that Browse for the folder which you saved the downloaded presentation in. Click open that folder and you will find your slide show there. Instead of double Clicking on the slide show simply single click on the icon to select it and go to the Open Tab on the browser. You will find an arrow on the open tab click on that. then you will find a drop down list. From that click on open as a copy. Now you can edit any way you want.

first of all, if you write the show to a disk, you can't really save any changes unless you have a rewritable disc, and you can always "save as" and then click "a power point show."
