I run another browser and would like to completely remove Internet Explorer from my computer. I currently run Vista. Can someone please provide a way to remove it if it is possible? I have already tried looking in the uninstall programs and I didn't see it there.

You should not remove IE ; don't use it, and define your browser as "default browser", but keep it

My understanding is that IE is used by Vista for internal purposes (for example to download Vista SW updates) and you will take risks if you remove it

Unfortunately, there is no safe method to remove Internet Explorer from Windows XP.

Internet Explorer is more than just a browser. It works as an underlying technology behind a number of internal Windows XP processes including updating, basic Windows functionality and more.

There are methods outlined on some other websites that appear to fully remove Internet Explorer and provide workarounds for the problems that removing it causes, but I don't recommend them. In my experience, removing IE causes too many problems to be worth it, even with the workarounds.

I don't recommend removing Internet Explorer from your system, because it is always good to have at least 2 web browsers on your computer; not to mention that the process is quite complicated because Microsoft has made it an essential part of their Windows OS.

But if you still want to remove it, here's how:

Have you tried going to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components > unchecking Internet Explorer ?..

You can't uninstall IE, it's integral to the OS.
