Hello,
I think I may have some kind of virus, but I have run a virus scan with every software I can find. McAffe, Windows virus scan, and Norton scan, all say they dont find any infected files, but my windows xp pro laptop keeps doing strange things like I keep have to "fix" my McAffe protection suite almost everytime I log on to my pc it requires my attention, and also my internet connection keeps going out for no reason, and the main other thing that happens is that although I have used my tuneup utilities and also control panel to stop any unwanted or unnecessary background programs, my pc has slowed down immensely lately, for example while I am typing this very sentence the cursor will stop and I continue to type although no words are appearing on the screen and then the cursor will catch up to me and will display the words that I typed while it was frozen and then it will come along with me and then it will freeze again and then catch up to me...It just seems like there is something running in the background somewhere that is eating up all my ram or processor that I cannot find. Couple that with the fact that my pc takes to long to open a program and I think something is going on here that I cannot for the life of me find...all 3 virus scans I have run..and the windows one takes HOURS....NONE of them find any virus.
Is it possible that there is a virus but they just are not finding it? I keep them updated.
Do these symptoms indicate a virus or something else.
I have done a check of my disc and all my hardware and it comes up everything seems fine.
Please advise.
Thank you for your time,

If you suspect that there's a virus or worm in your system but your antivirus programs were not able to detect it, maybe the virus "came" unsuspected by the antivirus program.

What I usually do for this case is to make use of free antivirus online scans, where a third party antivirus like trend will scan your computer and delete the virus for you. It worked for me.

Also, if that is not solved using the method above, you may try to defragment your harddisk.

You may also delete some unnecessary files that take up your memory.

If these steps still doesn't work, you ask for professional help from the manufacturer of your computer.

I am not a computer expert but still i think your ram is low and Antivirus like Mcaffe is comparitively a slower one.I dont think so that u have viruses.I think its a worm which makes your comp speed low.pls upgade your ram or change your anitvirus.Or you can use disk defragmenter to make your computer fast which is there in the start menu-All programs-accessories-system tools-Disk Defragmentor

you're saying job supervisor says CPU is at a hundred%. verify the techniques. click on CPU two times to hold the heaviest consumers to the right. verify on what the main consumer is. whether that's an AVG report then your AVG setting up is screwed up. Uninstall AVG.
