Question:
Why I can't restore Windows??
2007-11-18 04:43:27 UTC
When I open the restore file "rstrui.exe", the file executes and opens but it's just a frame with nothing showing inside the frame. like a window with blank inside...
Even when I want to install Mcafee internet security (any version), same problem occurs. means window appears but nothing is inside the window. no buttons, text etc. just ehite surface.
how can I get rid of this? solutions are welcome.

this is the next step upwards stronger than system restore.

If the step below doesnt fix it for you then you have to use xp disks and recovery console.

so try

1. the registry reset step

2 remove malware

3 repair the registry

1.. Safe Mode Bootup

=============

Slowly tap the F8 key while the computer is powering up

Just after Verifying DMI files occurs the F8 key will point the computer to a menu where safe mode can be selected.

Note if you mistakenly tap F8 key again, it will continue through to normal boot

Scroll and select last known good configuration

2.. Do all this

Clean Up Computer

===============

Download and run superantispyware. I was put onto this program because of an annoying popup (XP)

http://www.superantispyware.com

Superantispyware is a good program and remember to update it before scanning. A scan may take 45mins.

afterwards clean up the registry with this

3 .. Clean up pc and IE

==============

To clean up run this Microsoft’s windows live program. It does registry, spyware , virus , disk clean up and defrag

It takes 2 hours or more so once it starts to load x file of x you can leave the computer and go to bed etc.

XP Users http://onecare.live.com/site/en-ca/defau...

Vista Users http://onecare.live.com/site/en-ca/cente...

Run the full scanner, then at the end of the scan it asks you to set it running full time.

Think twice about setting it to run in the background as it could be another thing to slow you down. However, it may be worth while if you have no other security programs running.

Consider the following options:

I personally run Norton 360 which is full internet security and run superantispyware when I want to.

So if you don’t have a decent internet security program then perhaps run the superantispyware with your antivirus in the background.

If you sick of antivirus programs that don’t work perhaps run onecare full time and run superantispyware whenever.

Now you should be flying and Onecare has even set up a new system restore point for you.

forget approximately a fix, do a fix by way of utilising the deploy disk for XP. you ought to use any deploy different than you won't be able to repair 32 bit with sixty 4 bit deploy disk. Boot from the deploy disk, do no longer run the fix shown in left nook, it would not artwork. yet do deploy permit the deploy run to 3 show screen which exhibits a fix selection. lots of the time this works. different component till now you do the above, boot from CD or floppy to run Chkdsk to overview for blunders on the complicatedpersistent, there is an probability thepersistent has crash.
