My professor just asked me to resubmit a document in RTF. I have never had this problem! How do I fix this?

Assuming that by "Vista Microsoft Word" you mean Word 2007, do this:
1. Click the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the window.
2. Click Save As, then Other Formats.
3. In the "Save as type" list box, select "Rich Text Format (*.rtf)"
4. Save the file.
Hope that helps.

When you finish with your document in Word, select "SAVE AS..." instead of "SAVE."
One of the options under "Save As Type..." will be "Rich Text Format" which is what RTF stands for. Select that option and Word will convert your file to an RTF file.
Please note that RTF files lose a lot of the fancy fonts and formatting you'll have in your original Word document since RTF files tend to be very basic.
What I would recommend doing is saving the file once in the native Word format for your records, then do the "SAVE AS..." to convert the file to the RTF file your professor requested. Be sure to open the RTF file and carefully examine it and make any formatting changes to correct errors that may have been introduced during the conversion process. Word won't make "errors" per se during the conversion, but if you have any special characters or formatting, those could be lost and the resulting document could appear rather unsightly.
Good luck!

Resave the document by selecting "Save As..." and then choosing to save the file as type "RTF" or "Rich Text Format."
You might get a warning from Word about losing some features of your document, but you can probably ignore it.
Make sure you save your RTF version where you'll be able to find it and attach it.

click "save as", choose RTF as the file type - voila!
