I need help updating the flashplayer for my Linux 2007?

I've read so many things on how to do this, but none of them go with or work with my Linux 2007 or Mozilla 6. I need help on how to update my flashplayer step-by-step, if you know how for both my Linux '07 and my Mozilla 6 browser, then please answer, thanks.

I recently installed Linux Mint 3.0 (Kernel 2.6.20) based on Ubuntu 7.04 on a small partition as an exercise to see how older distros. would cope with up to date software.

Several issues presented themselves. Most of the Launchpad PPA'S only go back as far as Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with a few still serving Ubuntu 8.04 LTS with the command to add a third party repoository entirely changed using the automated sudo add-apt-repository command. However it is still possible to manually add the additional repository using software sources along with the signing key.

Linux Mint 3.0 came with Firefox 2 as the default browser which in itself presented a headache seeing as Flash Player 9 at the time was the most recent release available. Most websites now require Flash Player 10 to display Flash content rendering Flash Player 9 virtually useless. I overcame this by upgrading manually to Firefox 7.0 and installing Flash Player 10.3 which in itself was less than straightforward

I should mention trying to apply modern tutorials to old-releases is not an exact science so be prepared for plenty of issues and using an old release such as Ubuntu 7.04 a knowledge of working with APT as in Debian is an advantage along with compiling packages from source. Depedency issues are plentiful however at the end I wound up with a functional installation of Linux Mint 3.0

Be prepared for loads of hassle when working with old distros. but if you can get them up and running in some cases they are every bit as good as modern distros. I would rather work with Ubuntu 7.04 than Ubuntu 11.04 such is the way the distro. has gone

I am now not certain if the acer aspire one is the identical because the eee laptop from asus, however whether it is there could also be a main issue upgrading to flashplayer 10. See the primary hyperlink. Otherwise: It appears like you've downloaded the tarball to you laptop however have now not unpacked it given that you're going to must open a terminal and supply a few instructions. I have in no way used Linpus however I located this remark on a web site approximately Linpus: open a terminal window through going to documents -> my records after which clicking the dossier menu and deciding on terminal. In the terminal you're going to have got to browse to the position of the .tar.gz dossier, your laptop. I am assuming that linpus works pretty much like my procedure, ubuntu. In the terminal style: cd This will take you for your dwelling base listing. THen style : ls this may occasionally exhibit the entire subdirectories which can be there. THen style: cd Desktop the phrase Desktop must be spelled precisely as you notice it in you terminal. In my case Desktop is capitalized, yours is probably not, so style it as you notice it. Now style once more: ls and also you must see the .tar.gz dossier. Now style: tar -xzf flashplayer10.tar.gz once more style the title of the dossier precisely because it looks to your terminal. This is simply my wager of the targeted title of the dossier. Now style: cd install_flash_player_10_linux If that's the title of the brand new listing you're going to be in it. If you currently style: ./flashplayer that are meant to begin the installer. Again be certain to style the command utilising the targeted spelling you notice to your terminal. There may also be a few documents like README.txt or INSTALL.txt, or some thing that has the .txt extension. If you style much less and the title of the txt dossier you're going to see extra aid. If much less does now not paintings take a look at cat README.txt If you continue to get mistakes put up them so anyone can diagnose the main issue. Good good fortune

There's no such Linux Distro called "Linux 2007", period (and, why are us using one that OLD?). And while booting your Linux, it will list the Distro and version Number, or,display a splash screen, showing Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora Core, or, the actual name of your specific Distro.

And, Firefox updates itself to use the Distro's Embedded Adobe-compatible "flash player", that will always be updated whenever Linux automatically updates it's KERNEL. That is, unless you turned Automatic Updates, for one or the other, OFF.

So, please tell us the name of your Distro, and, then we can give you more precise instructions.

TIP: Get the latest version of your Linux Distro, and replace your 5 year one, and Flash and/or Firefox will likely be fixed!
