hi i was thinking of learning ethical hacking skills.
so can you tell me which os linux or unix
and
which distro of the above os can i use for my old pc.
its cofiguration are:
1.4ghz pentium 4
512mb ram.
so which os can i run smoothly.

It looks like most of the forensic type linux distro require 512 mb minimum ram. With 512 mb ram it will NOT run smoothly but will run.

If you cannot add more ram you best bet would be to install a small footprint distro like lubuntu

KALI linux is the best for learning penetration testing it has all the tools pre installed.

Just make sure to turn of all of the fancy window effects because those do eat up a lot of performance. Then it should run smoothly

you could even use it without booting the graphical interface then it would run smoothly even on an older computer than yours

Try Puppy Linux (for example), or any other light weight Linux Distro, that claims to run in 512MB of System RAM, or less.

If you want to be ethical hacker then I think you should have knowledge about linux os. becuase it gives you a good platform.
