2009-11-23 13:15:24 UTC
I am logging onto a website it signs me in but when I try to access the next page to view it keeps coming up with an error message
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'
Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'AND'.

/studentplacestudent.asp, line 301

Can anyone explain what this error message means, is it a problem on my computer or on the website I am accessing

Don't worry, this is a problem with the website that you are viewing and not your computer. What's happened is that the server (the computer that the website runs on) doesn't know what to do. Basically, it's just a bit confused. There is nothing you can do about this apart from contacting the administrator of the website and informing them of this problem. Providing them with the information you placed in this question should help them to locate and fix the problem quicker, rather than having to locate it from scratch. In the mean time, try another browser on the off-chance that this website doesn't work well with the one that you are using (again, this is a problem with the website and not your computer).

A small list of alternative browsers to try in the mean time;

Mozilla Firefox: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/

Google Chrome: http://www.google.co.uk/chrome

Internet Explorer 8: http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx

[I'd recommend upgrading if you've still got version 7 or below.]

the problem is on the website you are accessing.

precisely, it is on line 301 of the ASP code in the studentplacestudent.asp file.

It could be that you entered some data incorrectly which caused the website to freak out, but a well written website will check for errors in the inputs before processing them.
