I currently have Office XP Professional installed on my XP| computer. I just got Office Home and Student 2007. Should I uninstall the Office XP before installing the new Home and Student? Naturally I don't want to lose any documents created using the older XP Prof. software.

This isn't such an easy answer... your XP version may have different components than your 2007 version. Please inventory what components are in each so you know if you're losing or gaining components. AND... if you fully uninstall and have the original CD for XP and packaging, you can sell it on Ebay.... :)

AND... ask yourself if this is an improvement for you. I have Office XP and I also have a legal copy of Office 2007 that I have never installed. So far, OfficeXP does everything that I want and Microsoft even has a free download so that OfficeXP can process Office 2007 files. Office 2007 has nothing to offer me... and the newest Office 2010 is already in the pipeline... :)

I'm assuming you mean Office 2007?

Back up all of your old Office files.

If you are using Outlook and are upgrading to a Outlook 2007, all the emails will be gone.

I would check first to see if you can upgrade from a the current installation with your new disc. If not, it would be safer to uninstall the old Office XP software.

I would back up any important files on your computer and restore it using the factory disk to its original configuration. This should work, but do know that Microsoft products suck. I was a PC user for years and was tired of the headaches. Then I saved some money and bought myself an iMac and it has been the greatest investment ever. I no longer have to spend my saturday afternoons fixing all the PC problems that pile up during the week.

Not necessary...you will just have 3 programs now..instead of just 2...what you may want to do after loading...just transfer the old files and anything else important into the new one...then go ahead and delete Office XP.........
