Problem with installation of SQLServer in my windows7 Operating system?

Hi Friends,

I am using windows 7 operating system and I have installed VisualStudio 2010 in my machine. I am facing lot of problems when I am going to install SQLServer 2008.
I am a selft learner and I don't like to attend for any classes. Because of this problem I am not able to practice/concentrate.
I have downloaded many sql management studios and tried with all the service pack versions. Still I am facing the problem. Once I have removed the VS2010(manually uninstalled which were not uninstalled properly) and fresh installation was also done.
Can any one please help and your help is appreciable.

First install SQLServer 2008 and then VisualStudio 2010.

r i have installed SQLServer 2008 and VisualStudio 2010. and i never had any problem.

I am giving Tips which may be useful to you

Hope you are using express edition.

First remove all previous installations

download 2008R2 express edition ( R2 works fine on windows7 while earlier gives some trouble )

at the time of install disable all the antivirus ( sqlexpress installs as service & many times AV prevents them )

Do not use upgrade option. It is better to use new instance.

it requires a lot patience on 64 bit OS but 2008R2 has both flavors which works perfectly.

Even for management studio DO NOT USE upgrade option.

After any uninstallation use CCleaner like tool to clean leftover in registry.



It gives a lot trouble if partial uninstall leftovers are present so cleaning before install is atmost important as well as stopping AV.

i think u are facing problem with sql server 2008. do one thing again clean install ur pc with windows 7 (32bit or 64bit) or if it is already done no need because some times even after uninstalling server it will give somewhat different error. next try to download sql server 2008 from here http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=7593 because downloading from official page is better than any other third party website's and if u already downloaded and facing problem while installing this sql server 2008 check this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7whqA-VZaYc .while installing any server it may be oracle or ms sql we need to verify that, installing correctly or not because if anything went on wrong it will not uninstall properly and we need to install a clean os.it may be any visual studio 2010 or latest 2012, this sql server 2008 will install properly unless there is an problem with that software or while installation.
