My laptop had XP on and I put on a version of windows7 that I downloaded. It worked fine for about 4 months but now I get a message saying "Illegal Software found".
I was not prepared to spend on New disk so I bought a refurbished laptop with Win7 on. I want to give my nephew my old laptop. He is only allowed to have games etc on there an NO internet. I would like to do a clean install of XP and delete the windows7 that is on there. However I cant get started. I get a message saying BLOCKED DUE TO COMPATIBILITY ISSUES. There is nothing that I want to save on there. I just want to wipe Win7 and load XP on.
Can someone please tell me how to get past being blocked?
thanks

Boot from the XP installation CD and press a key when prompted.  At the Welcome To Setup screen, press R to load the recovery console.

Type FORMAT  C:  /Q  /FS:NTFS and press Enter.  Confirm that you want to format the drive.  When done, type EXIT and press Enter to reboot.

Try this method:

On the Setup of your bios choose the ATA instead of AHCI on the SATA configuration..

then now apply the changes. then insert your cd on the cd rom. make sure you have chosen the cd as your first boot device.
