Hi, a few days ago I accidentally downloaded the Vista Antispyware 2010 virus. I followed this website's instructions:
http://www.myantispyware.com/2010/01/28/how-to-remove-vista-antispyware-2010-vista-antivirus-2010-vista-guardian/
And was pleased to find that the virus had seemingly been removed. However, since then, I have noticed that I cannot open any word documents saved on my computer. Is this due to the virus or my modifying of the computer's registry (the instructions called for modifying the registry)? Please let me know how to solve this frustrating problem.

Try scanning your computer with a good anitirus software. I would recommend kaspersky, install it and and scan all your drives and memory. It doesn't matter that it's a 30day trial because you only need it now. It latest version can be found here:

Hello

It is most probable that the antivirus software Antispyware 2010 deleted office.

You can reinstall your office to make it work again.

In order to protect the most important part of your computer, you should install a registry error fix tool. I think RegistryMum is excellent. It is designed for fix registry errors particularly. Hope it can help you.
