Hi i am planning to upgrade my computer from vista to windows 8 (i have decided, i am not changing my mind). The only problem i have is that i have installed Office 2007 and i don't want to buy/upgrade to 2010/2013. I have Office 2007 (3pack). I already used it on three computers. I also have the original disk and code. Will that work when i do a clean install of Windows 8? if not, is there any other way? Thanks

P.S. If you have any additional questions i will be answering them by adding additional text to this question (±20 min)

If you have enough space you can create a separate partition and install Windows 8 upgrade to the secondary partition. Unlike previous versions of Windows, Windows 8 upgrade Pro allows you to install it as a full version to a secondary partition after it detects a previous version of Windows from XP forward.

That way you will create a dual booting system and can ensure you can still use the older programs without being forced to upgrade to newer versions. This will also come in handy for devices that may not be compatible with Windows 8.

If later on you decide you don't care for Windows 8 you can simply remove the partition and repair the partition to simply load Windows Vista only.

If you decide to get rid of Vista instead you can do that too and possibly resize your partition table to either grant Windows 8 more space or create a partition for file storage. That depends on how your partition table is currently setup.

The other workaround would be to delete the Vista partition and if there is enough space you can clone the Windows 8 partition with special utilities, delete the original Windows 8 partition and resize the main partition to use up all the drive space.

You will need experience to pull this off but just making you aware of the options.

If you intend a clean install contact Microsoft first and check to see if they are willing to reset your Microsoft Office key. Tell them you are upgrading to Windows 8 and just want to make sure re installing it won't be an issue.

I've had keys reset by Microsoft before. You just need to prove you are the licensed with either a receipt directly from Microsoft or the name the keys are registered to.

in case you purchase the DVD, you're maximum in all probability nonetheless no longer waiting to enhance to abode windows 8 professional. the only thank you to place in abode windows 8 professional is that in case you do it a similar way as I did, a sparkling set up. meaning formatting the entire computing device to place in abode windows 8 yet you're able to need the entire version of abode windows 8 to try this (purchase the OEM DVD). My suggestions is to do a sparkling set up instead of an improve because of the fact that there could be much less issues in case you do it that way. Upgrading could make you finally end up with themes. ------- confident, do a sparkling abode windows 8 professional set up. So, purchase the OEM abode windows 8 professional disc and set up. no could desire to enhance, merely boot into the abode windows 8 DVD with out going into abode windows 7 and merely format your computing device from there (speedier) and then merely set up it. lots extra advantageous this way than improve. yet confirm you have your stuff backed up and function each and all of the drivers downloaded (you're able to need it).

It should still work just fine. Its like like a windows OS, if its activated to the same pc, it wont have any problems using the same code. But you could even install it to a completely different computer if you wanted to, but then it would deactivate the code on the other machine it was used on.

So either way, yes you can reuse the same code to reinstall it on the same computer. As for whether it will work with win8 i cant guarantee, but i dont see why it wouldnt work.

Also have you thought of just getting http://www.libreoffice.org/download/

Its just as good as MS office (for normal peoples uses, maybe not as good if you need it for like payroll in a business or something). And it will be better then a 5 year old version of ms office, and more compatible with newer version of ms office.
