So recently, everytime I try to download a file, I will click "save" and it will show the download for a split second and then say it finished. It says "complete," however the download is never complete. Also, sometimes I cannot load webpages and get the error message saying that the "connection to the server has been reset," but when I refresh the page, sometimes it will work (this is the case for multiple webpages). OR the page will load half way, and then stop all of a sudden...Im thinking it could be a problem with my internet settings or a virus (McAfee shows nothing)...I am connected thru ethernet to my university's network. Help!

Have you tried to empty your Temp internet files? HAving too much data there can stop downloads from time to time.

Can you SAVE a large image onto your PC?

If your connection keeps dropping during a file download you will get the symptoms you descirbed. Are you using DHCP to connect? Try using some third party DNS servers such as UK2 83.170.64.2 or another open DNS 'search on google'.

It could be likely that the Uni Network is blocking the downloads via a firewall. If it is mainly EXE files you are trying to download this could be the issue.

You are probably right clicking and downloading. In that case you are just downloading the html page, which takes less than a second to download. Click on the Link regularly (Left click) and let the provider's download window open.

One other thing you could try is hold down the shift key when you click on the download link.
