At the moment, I would say XP. It works, just about anything is compatible with it and it's fast. It was when XP was released that all the older versions seemed ancient - it made the leap from working, to working really well. And XP can be installed, and run, on just about any PC (I have seen it run on a PC running on 256MB RAM). Vista has just been a bit of a bad egg and is going to be superseded by Windows 7 soon anyway. So I'm not going to be rushing out to buy Vista.

The early reports on Windows 7 seem to say that it's Vista, but better. It is also faster and has a slightly improved GUI. So we'll have to wait and see.

It has to be x.p. vista is to demanding and not forgiving enough as for windows 7 hmmmm it is a streamlined less demanding os than vista but then again when it does hit the shops a lot of systems will be up to scratch for vista think main problem of vista was under developed drivers to back up a new and improved os structure, ........

I say XP. Microsoft just screwed up with Vista. I haven't tried Windows 7 yet, but I hope Microsoft will learn from their mistakes from Vista.

any version of the XP is good in my opinion. I have used the vista and it is not as bad as everyone says but you do run into a lot of glitches and it sucks because of that. Also, it is not set up as nicely as the XP desktop. I had Vista and downgraded the first week I did lose some of the new features but they were not worth it anyways. good luck to you

XP is probably the most practical Windows OS, being able to run some of the programs that were designed for the older OS-es. I personally like 98SE (I think it was). I don't think it ever crashed on me... And it had that cool look to it, in my opinion.
