Question:
How do I restore default settings?
2009-05-08 00:28:59 UTC
I was messing with my personal settings in the control panel and somehow screwed up my display. Everything is "zoomed in" and all windows are "stretched out" (as in the 3 boxes in the top right corner are rectangles, not squares). I've fussed with my resolution and DPI. My resolution is at it's highest (although it made everything smaller, its still all stretched out) and my DPI is on the default setting. Is there a button to delete any modifications I've made? I have Vista...

Hi,

As I do not know if you are using a CRT or LCD monitor, I'll point you to a help file in Vista that you can read which tells you how to return to default settings and fix display issues.

1. Right click on empty spot on your desktop

2. Select Personalize

3. Click on Display Settings link at bottom of list

4. At bottom left of Monitor tab that opens click the link "How to I get the best display"

Just go to accessories then accessibility select restore default setting. Just set the date before you modify the setting. Remember select on the previous date before you did everything on your PC in order to restore your default setting.
