My internet explorer does not work anymore, and I have no option besides reformatting the hard drive. My firefox is still working though. My brother said something about the google toolbar making internet explorer crash. Is this true?

yes it might be true. I had issues with google toolbar myself (after installing it I couldn't write in non-latin (in my case hebrew) in websites forms.

If it has this affect, it can also crash your internet explorer.

Try to uninstall the google toolbar and check whether it works.

Reformatting your hard drive is very drastic and absolutely no need for it.

Not with the "problem " you have.

You say, that you use firefiox. Install google toolbar for firefox.

Then you uninstall the google toolbar in ie.

Internet explorer can't be uninstalled, because first of all it is part of windows or vista and secondly ie is needed for the up dates. You do not need a google toolbar when you have one in Firefox.

You know what formating hard drive means ?

You loose everything on your computer and you have to reinstall window.

That's why I said. a little drastic to format because google toolbar does not work.

It can not make your computer crash.

Its unlikely that its the Google toolbar causing the crash. I would try resetting your IE configuration to it's default state. This will remove all toolbars and problematic plugins. The link below has steps on how to do that. Hope this helps!

Except IE I have installed the all the three browsers(Chrome, Firefox, Opera). I mainly use Firefox and chrome. Firefox has the largest and best add-on directory, Chrome is trying the catch up with it. Opera is way behind in this department. Choose any of the modern web browsers, technology wise they are almost the same (IE lags a bit here). Otherwise its a matter of personal preference.

no, Google toolbar doesn't it's just that IE is buggy, and you don't have to reformat, just uninstall internet explorer and replace it with a better one like safari, or opera.
