Install a VNC server on your home machine (e.g. TightVNC: http://www.tightvnc.com/ ), then use a dynamic IP service (e.g. http://www.dtdns.com/ ) to always have a URL point to your home computer's IP address. Then you can access your home computer using a VNC client from anywhere.

I've been doing that for over seven years now.

If you have Windows or Mac OS, you can also use the Remote Desktop Server/Client.

Windows XP comes with a built in tool called Remote Desktop. All you need to do is set your home computer to allow incoming connections then get your IP address from home and in your work computer log in to your IP with your regular user name and password......for more detailed info just google search how to use Remote Desktop
