my sister's friend's computer restarts whenever logging in to yahoo. here how it goes:

the yahoo messenger lets you sign in, but after millisecond, it restarts her computer.

i had tried reinstalling the yahoo messenger, but same problem occurs.

my sister's friend relocated to another place; i was wondering if the process of relocating the internet connection has something to do with it;
or is it may be because of any kind of virus or spyware?

another thing, she was using the multi messenger during the time the problem occurred.

i am expecting for the best answer from you, techies. thanks!

hmmmmmmm... do you have a microphone or webcam of some sort, or another type of hardware you use with it or might be associated with it? The cause might be a corrupted driver for one of those. I had a corrupt driver for my webcam and it done that. Just download new drivers for it if thats the problem.

Yahoo leaves many lines of itself contained in the registry at the same time as an previous version is uninstalled (administration Panel > upload/get rid of) or a sparkling one fails to position in precise - (my uninstall left on the brink of 30 references). (My Messenger 9 works tremendous - this time!) the hot version received't set up thoroughly till they are wiped clean out. It calls for deleting all Yahoo Messenger references from the registry, except your archived messages and profile and contacts lists, possibly. (Be very careful - you could make a mess there!) report Hippo has quite a few variations of Yahoo Messenger. Messenger 10 has shown glitchy on some pcs, so stick with Messenger 9. receive and keep this technique straight away from there - it style of feels a lot less confusing than an replace or set up from Yahoo's website. set up it purely after thoroughly cleansing the registry of remnants. Use a search for engine to locate Lenny Vasbinder's column on 'How I continuously Do a sparkling set up Of Yahoo Messenger on XP'. it ought to also paintings for Vista and Win 7, yet i do not have those. It does take multiple time, yet must be properly worth it. I had tried Yahoo help table too, notwithstanding it did not treatment my woes, sadly. take your time - wish it extremely works for you too.

It's been awhile since I've bothered with Y!Messenger, but I do know that there are a lot of Apps out there that let you crash another user's Y!Messenger whenever they log on.

Perhaps someone has found a way to make it crash their machine too.

Hard to say if this is what's happening, but who knows.

Try having her log in on a different account and see if the same thing happens.

Most of the time if the computer restarts, especially after opening a program, there is a problem with the RAM. Its possible that its the video card, but unlikely.

Try running one of the memory tests from www.memtest.org

it sounds like your ram or processor is getting overloaded!! which could be from a virus with in yahoo. Or it could be the hardware if it happens with other programs.
