I receive this message when I try to start up Outlook 2003.

"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version. This could have been caused by installing other messaging software. Please reinstall Outlook."

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook but I still receive the same message. Should I uninstall every single Outlook item, like Outlook Connector, Business Contact Manager Update (came with Outlook 2003), and Small Business Connectivity Components? What else can I try to solve this problem?

Hi,

If you receive a message that you are using the wrong version of mapi32.dll or that the file is corrupted, you might have installed other messaging software after you installed Microsoft Outlook. When you see this type of message, you can fix it by running a program in the Microsoft Windows System folder. To run the program to fix this problem, in C:\winnt\system32 or C:\windows\system32, double-click Fixmapi.exe.

Alternatively, rename MSMAPI32.DLL to MSMAPI32.XXX. Then try starting Outlook. File is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033.

outlook 2003 and later is just one big problem it is unbelievably temperamental, just search for mapi32.dll on your computer and right click on it click "properties " and see what version it is, look on the CD that outlook came on and find mapi32.dll and see if it is the same version if it isn't copy that to the folder you found the other one in and when it asks if you want to replace it click yes, also compare the file sizes the file on the cd may be mapi32.dl_ you have to put the final L on yourself

Need more info. What are the account settings? It could be a thousand things. Is the computer on a network? Domain? Is it configured the same on the network? Network settings? Is it using the same user account? Login account? Email account? Where's the email server? You can't just give us an error message and say "help!". We need info.
