I have to enter a Cosine equation into Excel (specifically, this one: y = 43 - 16 cos π/11 (x-1). ) How in the world am I supposed to enter the formula? I've tried everything I know but it keeps giving me error messages. Help Please!

to indicate multiplication, you must use the asterisk

=43-16*COS(PI()*(A2-1)/11)

this assumes column A has the x values and the first one is in cell A2.

I'll have to check on my other computer, as I don't have excel installed on this one.

I would assume x is in radians, so you need to check what excel's default is, whether it be radians or degrees

Wow

43 - 16 cos π/11 (x-1). ).

I'm impressed.

last I heard the cosine function was abbreviated so: cos( )

but one left hand parenthesis and two right hand parenthesis must mean something to you...

Not ot me.

=43-cos(pi()/11*(ref-1))

or a little more clearly

=43-cos(pi()*(ref-1)/11)

assuming that I have guessed where you should have put the parenthesis if you had half a brain.
