I want to insert row in an Excel worksheet. I didn't find any keyboard shortcut for the same in the help file. How can I add a custom keyboard shortcut for this?
In Excel 2003, it was Alt+I+R. That was very convenient to use. In Excel 2007, it gives me an option to add a custom button on the Quick Toolbar, which is above the ribbon. But to use that button, I will have to use mouse instead of keyboard. Can anyone help me with this?

Do you really need a shortcut for such a short action? All it is is right button of mouse on the row address below where you want to insert and down to insert, click right button. You can always record that action though to a macro but quite honestly it is so quick and easy to do anyhow, I wouldnt think it worth it. Your 'shortcut' for 2003 is actually longer than what I consider the normal way of inserting/deleting rows or columns.

Click the row number that you want to insert the new row after and press CTRL+(plus sigh)

The keyboard shortcut already exists. to delete a row, click the row and press CTRL+(minus)

Also works to insert or delete cells, you will be prompted to move cells up, down, left or right depending on where you are. much quicker than alt+I+ whatever else you were pressing.

Works for columns as well.

For my excel 2007 I highlight the row where I want to insert:

CTRL SHIFT + (control key and the shift key and + keys together)

Try using macros on your excel file. Or else do it in a programming software like visual basic, it will be a lot easier.
