A window is another window...a tab resides in a window instance, and you can have multiple tabs inside of a single window. You can configure Chrome to open new windows in tabs instead of actually having them open in new windows, which almost makes the ability to open things in new windows pointless.

A tab is always on the same window or browser . A 'window' opens a whole new instance of the browser - look at your task bar to find out.
Because it is another task then yes there will be power overheads, especially if there are moving images or graphics on the windows. This is because your RAM has a copy of the open programs and if too many are opened the copies go onto the disk which demands more energy. More RAM should help that.
Tabs are easier to change and flick between than windows unless you've got your tab keys working for you.

A window is managed by your window manager (or your desktop manager and then window manager). But a tab is managed within the context of the application.
Two windows --> Two running copies of the application programme.
Two tabs --> Both completely contained within one copy of the application programme.

Size is the size of the file contents while size-on-disk is how many blocks it needs to store the file. For efficiency reasons, most disks are partitioned into sizeable chunks, usually about 4k (but there are other sizes). That means a file anywhere from 1-4095 bytes will fit in a 4k chunk and will, to the filesystem, take up the entire 4k chunk. Any file from 4096-8191 bytes will take 8k on the disk. And so on and so on... You can try it. Create a file and put in the text "abc". Create another file and put in the test "abcdef". They will show different sizes but will take the same space on disk. Note that all of this information does not include the filename. The filename is stored in a special file called a "directory". The directory entry contains the name of the file, the location of the file, and various attributes (access time, creation time, etc...) Shortcuts are files that are links to a different path.
