My computer has a 60 day trial version of Microsoft Office 2007?

My computer has a 60 day trial version of Microsoft Office 2007. I haven't used it yet, so I'll have 60 days from the time I first use it (I think). I will need this software, or I can download OpenOffice... I am still deciding.

So I have these questions:
1. After the 60 days, how much will it cost to "buy" the official software?
2. If I do that, I guess it will happen online?
3. Then does my trial version somehow convert to a real version? In other words, I won't have to download things or reinstall, just continue using what I have?
4. Shouldn't I have a newer version of Office? If I "buy" this online after the trial, would I get the newer version or just a real license for 2007?
5. Would it be best to start with a newer version and not do this trial for 2007? How much does that cost?
6. Do you think OpenOffice is almost as good and I should just go with that instead (it is free)?

Thanks for any knowledgeable help.

You are correct. The free trial period for Microsoft Office begins on the day of first use, not the date of installation. You can get additional free trial time. After your trial of Office 2007 runs out, uninstall Office 2007 (now discontinued) and then install the free trial of Office 2010. The two suites are very compatible with each other, so you won't have a learning curve to deal with when you install 2010, and the files are completely compatible.

1. It depends on which version of Office 2010 you want to purchase. There are many packages. Home and Student doesn't have Outlook. Each package has a different set of applications:

2. You can purchase on line and get download or DVD

3. Office 2010 can be converted to the full version by simply activating it.

4. Yes, you should forget about 2007 altogether and get 2010 when you are ready to buy

5. If you're trying to max out your free trial period, then start with 2007, let it run out, then install 2010 and use the free trial before activating. If you want to get things over and done with, then immediately uninstall 2007 and start off with 2010.

6. OpenOffice is almost as good as Office 97. Its internals are ancient. The LibreOffice folks are trying to update it, but so I am not impressed. The ability of OpenOffice and LibreOffice to save in Office Standard file format is dismal.

Open Office has fallen behind with it's up dates, and Open Office developers have moved off Open Office and no longer supporting it. Of course, you can buy the product key from the microsoft official shop, but it's so expensive.

so i suggest you buy it from some online MSDN partner shop, like http://www.windowspremiumkey.com

, with cheap price.

my windows 7 product key was bought there. genuine key with fast shipping, now my win7 OS has been activated one year. feel good! hope it can help you!

hey, i hope you choose http://www.vip4sale.com

since they are the best online site i ever meet.

days ago, i visited this site recommended by tomshardware, and bought my windows 8.1 pro key.

however, i encountered a problem. the key failed to work on my original DVD. i sent the screenshot to them. they replied to me in 20 mins.

it was my mistake. my original dvd is 8 pro, not 8.1 pro. besides, they provided the download link of 8.1 pro to me FREE.

very appreciated. the key worded at the first try after i burned a new dvd. great work! strongly recommended.
