Has anyone heard of the "arx error" message given on autocad?

When I try to enter a block, a dialog box will appear that says "arx error". If I hold the enter key continuously autocad will allow me to insert the block. This error also disables me to use the distance command as well.

might be because the layer that ur trying to place the object is locked...chk that and if it locked, unlock the layer and try...

if it is not locked then it should be another reason...chk n update!

What release are you using? And the drawing that you are trying to manipulate, was it created using AutoCAD 2007?

The arx errors can occur when trying to open a .dwg file containing new type of objects (objects coming from a newer version).

If you are opening a .dwg file saved by AutoCAD 2007 (saved down as 2004-format) in AutoCAD 2006 or earlier, an Object Enabler fix should solve your problem.

You can download these fixes for free at:

If that doesn't work try downloading a service pack for your version of AutoCAD (unless you are running a pirated version of the software in which case I would steer clear of the service packs)
