Question:
How do I convert bitmap images to jpeg format?
2006-12-09 03:07:44 UTC
I use Kodak EasyShare program, have added pictures to photobucket account, and when I try to save back to my documents or my pictures, they only save as bitmap instead of jpeg. The original pictures in the EasyShare program were lost when I had a crash and had to have software re-installed.

One easy way to convert from bitmap to jpeg is to use the Paint program in start>programs>accessories. Just open your picture using that paint program, then go to File>Save As, then choose .jpeg in that drop down menu. You can also use Photoshop if you want more control over the size and quality of the picture.

edit it and save it as a jpeg file. i tried this many times.

but remember, you should delete the bitmap file.

if your software doesnt allow you to save as jpeg - though most do - you can open the picture in the Windows Picture Viewer and then "save copy as" and select jpeg format

you could download and install xnview (http://www.xnview.com) for free. its very simple and very fast on basic imaging process. and if you install xnview with windows extension support, you would simply convert to jpeg with right click and click convert to jpeg option (with a small thumb on the right click menu)

Open up the picture as the BMP then click on FILE then SAVE AS... & then change the format from BMP to JPG.
