What are your arguments (pros and cons) with regards to comparing Microsoft Windows 7 with Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard? And ultimately, which operating system is better?
Here are my notable examples in favour of Windows 7:
1. What I love most about Windows Vista and Windows 7 is that it has more file-orientated features than Mac OS X. For example, in Windows 7, you can add many details to an individual file (such as video compression information, focal length, e-mail, etc). Also, in Windows 7, you can arrange files according to more than 30 different categories, including date received, date created, date sent, etc. Mac OS X does not have these features, which poses a problem if you have thousands of files and need specific categories in which to place them. Windows 7 focuses on attention to detail when it comes to file actions. For example: in thumbnail view, you get a preview of what's inside the file. The layout of Windows Explorer is more user-friendly than Mac OS X.
2. The Recycle Bin of WIndows comes handy when you want to select just ONE file to restore to it's original location. In MAc OS X, you cannot delete an individual file in the Trash, and you there is no function that automatically restores files to their original location. In mAc OS X, you need to figure out where the original location was, or ismply drag your file to whichever location suits you best.
3. In Windows 7, most of the features I grew up with are still there and very intuitive. I've been using Windows since the 95 version. I recently got a Macbook Pro ALuminium Unibody, and find that although it has great icon aesthetics, it's still a bit TOO simple. I prefered the complexity of Windows systems.
4. In Windows 7, you have the ability to alter the icon for your personal file from a range of icons, even to the "My Computer" icon. In Mac OS X, this is not possible, you can only add colour tags.
5. Microsoft Office 2007 offers more features, such as equation editor, than the Mac version.
6. Applications which are reserved for Windows-based computers do not have the same features for the Mac versions. For example: the RealPlayer version for Mac lacks many features: one cannot, for example, see a List Pane.
