a few days ago my computer restarted while using that windows program to delete stuff in my C: drive to get some extra space, since it was running out. after that, it wouldn't boot! i got an error about dlls that couldn't be loaded or something. so today i got my windows cd again, and started to install it. after trying to "repair" the installation so as to not lose my data, i realized that it wasn't working, so i tried installing it to D: this time to see if I could keep stuff like my drivers which were apparently saved in C: (i really have no idea about this stuff). anyway, after installing it to D:, I realized that my E: drive (are they called drives? I have no idea; it used to say "C:," "D:," and "E:," in My Computer, but now only C and D appear, both with the sizes they used to have, meaning I'm missing a third of my hdd space!) WAS GONE! I tried looking up a fix, but everything was scrolling REEEEAL slow, so I went to the nvidia site and downloaded the drivers for my video card to see if that fixed the scrolling problem. during driver installation, I got a windows installer error, something about command line parameters or something, I just clicked "accept" and went to the driver installation again, it was going fine until the end, where it said something about the installation having been unsuccesful, I clicked accept again and it said that I had to restart my computer, which I did. at this point I noticed that I had two windows installations, one in C: (which didn't work because I only got a blank desktop - I could open the task manager but I couldn't run anything from it, since trying to run anything caused task manager to crash) and another in D:, which was the one I used to download the drivers again, after selectign the D: one, my computer just froze, so I restarted it and selected the D: one again, and it froze again, so I figured it had ****** up again. at this point I was really pissed off! so I installed windows again, this time in C: and formatting C:, and I'm currently using that one. I think. anyway, when I open "my computer" my E: partition is still missing! I haven't tried redownloading the drivers yet, because it'll probably just **** up my installation again. I'd like to at least get my E: drive back first, even if I lose everything in it! please tell me how I can fix this stuff. it's really getting on my nerves, because the windows installation takes really long, and I've installed it three times today already. tell me how to get my E: drive back, please!

first, if you don't know what you are doing why are you doing it?

second check your device manager, look for anything not installed, usually marked by a yellow question mark.

if you see those get out your oem disk and reinstall them. I you don't have the disk go to properties find out who makes it and get the drivers from them and install them that way.

I hope you learned not to do stuff you don't know how to do.

And never reinstall an os without the oem driver install disk(s).

Hi there ,

Programs generally remove files but not registry entries upon uninstallation. Such can be fixed using good registry cleaner like RegInOut .If your system is missing a windows dll then you might have to repair your installation after fixing the previous registry entry of that dll using RegInOut.

sounds like a undertaking with the disc. try it in the different force and set your bios as nicely the two cd drives earlier the confusing disc. in case you get the comparable message, make effective that the disc is sparkling, and then finally, tell your laptop to not boot the confusing force in any respect. it ought to not be attempting as nicely off the cd in any respect and your loader errors is from the confusing disk advert the cd only isnt bootable :S in case you get the comparable errors whilst making effective the confusing disk isnt being booted and the XP boot cd is sparkling, then attempt to re-burn your XP-CD
