i'm trying to record sound clips using wave out as the source

this has worked before, but after i upgraded from WLM 8.1 to 14, the application fails to detect the source

when i go to the web cam / mic settings it rsays the microphone is unavailable or in use by another application...which apparently is because of Windows Media Player

but when i close WMP, check the settings and compare with the settings of the volume control, the volume control now states that WaveOut Mix is unavailable

any idea what's going on and how to fix it?

Try unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Edit:

Do you have a mic to plug in? Or even like headphones to plug in the socket. I think they "upgraded" windows to detect sound devices only when they are plugged in. So you need a dummy device to plug into your sound in.

making a track is inherent...genetic. you're able to desire to be born with the present. making a track by ability of a undeniable vocalist is likewise for the final public...subjective meaning that some could evaluate it dazzling and others no longer.I advise even Elvis had some detractors. so which you're on no account going to locate that for example a a hundred in line with cent will locate which you're dazzling. on the different hand you're no longer likely to locate that a hundred% will declare which you're a nasty singer. so which you notice my component..that is going to constantly be subjective. the terrific thank you to do it...is to choose on your life..sing on your individual form and don't take word of any detractors (and you will locate some).

You may have a spyware recording everything you do

restart your computer and go again
