I am using Windows Vista on my laptop. The only program that is giving me trouble is Word. I can click between menu tabs and print, close, save, and press buttons on the toolbars. However, I cannot use my mouse inside the actual document. I cannot even scroll up and down the page with my mouse. In order to navigate the document, I have to use my arrow keys.

I really need to get this issue fixed fast! One night I put my computer to sleep and the next mornings after updates had installed, Word didn't work properly.

Is there a setting I need to change in Word? Any help? Advice?

steps are listed below but please go to the URL above and read and follow directions from there

To resolve this problem, delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data registry subkey. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Exit all Office programs.

2. Click Start , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data

4. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click Yes.

5. Exit Registry Editor.

6. Restart Word.

Other Certain inking features require running Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or later. Speech recognition functionality requires a close-talk microphone and audio output device.
