How can I import .mkv video files into Songbird?

Question

I would like to program Songbird to import .mkv video files. I heard there is a plugin known as "ewmpeg4dec" that supports .mkv but I'm not sure how to get my hands on it.

I also read you can override what Songbird is allowed to import by going to "about:config" and creating a new String called "songbird.mediacore.gstreamer.videoExtensions" and giving it a value like "ogg,ogv,wmv,mp4,m4v,mov,divx,avi,mkv,asf,3gp" but I'm not quite sure how to access "about:config" console. I can access the "error console" via Tools>Error Console but when I plug the code in, nothing really happens.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Before putting videos into Songbird, you should make sure which video file is compatible with Songbird. so you just need a right converter to convert your videos to Songbird supported video format , then you can import the converted videos into Songbird. Just like JOEsaid, try to change the file extension. You may evaluate the converiting program I am using. Hope it helps u.
