I need to convert a .wav file to a .mp3 file so that I can put it on an mp3 CD that I'm putting together for a friend. Is there a way to convert the whole file without paying for a converter?

Cute Bro,

There are several methods to do this job...following are the two easiest, safe and famous methods:

Method # 1 (If your file is small in size)

GOTO http://www.zamzar.com

follow their easy steps...upload your media file there...they will send you a link of converted video file to your

mail box you can download that converted video again by clicking on that link.

Method # 2 (If it is big in size)

You have to download and install a converter...so you can change the format of any video media file into Windows movie maker required formats( wmv, mpg, or avi)" or other formats off line.

here is the trustworthy link from where you can download free(with key) converter:

http://www.mediafire.com/?n6ee0uouoqv

one thing more Bro...if you are intending to upload your movie after aditing in Windows Media Player...then right formats that "youtube" accepts are "wmv, mpg, avi, mov etc"(i think mov or avi would be great).

Hope you will find my answer helpfull!

Go to this site:http://files.uberdownloads.com/software/converters/convert.php?f=MP3&t=WAV

It is a free software called MediaCoder. You can download it and use it free of charge. It is a batch media file converter, so you can convert the whole files quickly.

Try also this site for another free converter:

Yes. Now, complete the question - say "How do you convert wav files into MP3?". Oh, well, that's easy. Easiest if you've already got iTunes? Do you?

Audacity is good, I agree and has a good reputation. For some reason, I'm finding the site seems to be mixed French and English lately. You need the LAME encoder if you want to make MP3s and you'll find the info you need by getting Audacity from Source Forge, which I think is the "official" place to get Audacity:

Audacity for Windows

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/faq?s=install&item=lame-mp3

"LAME" Mp3 encoder (it's the standard)

You'll have to open Audacity and go to Options and choose Locate mp3 encoder, and find that file (.dll file)

Then you can export any sound as MP3.

It's great for any sound editing stuff. And it's free.

'Audacity' is a terrific, freeware item & will do this. Make sure to get the plug in for this particular task.

It's moderately easy to use, but you'll luv it when you find all the functions.

Get it at 'snapfiles.com/freeware' under 'audio' heading.

DON'T DOWNLOAD ANY PROGRAMS! "Media-Convert.com" is also a great site for converting pretty much ANYTHING into ANYTHING, lol, and it's also FREE and you don't have to download or install anything:

www.media-convert.com

I use it often.
