Like everyone else said:

1. right mouse click the desktop

2. goto properties

3. click the desktop tab

4. Click the Customize Desktop Button

5, Check the desktop Icons you want to appear

method 2

1. goto c:\program file\Internet explorer\

2. Hold down CTRL+SHIFT whilst dragging Iexplore.exe to your desktop

a shorcut will be made

tip:

you can quickly goto start » run and type IEXPLORE to launch IE

Addendum to updated response:

If your having difficultly locating the Iexplore.exe

1. highlight and copy to clipboard (Ctrl+C) the following line:

C:\progra~1\intern~1\iexplore.exe

2. right mouse click on your desktop

3. goto new » shorcut

4. paste the line (Ctrl+V) into the box and click on next

5. click next

(note if that doesnt work internet explorers executable isnt located in your IE folder)

try right clicking on your desktop selecting properties, then select the desktop tab, then the customize desktop button, then uncheck the ie icon (if checked) if not then check it, apply and apply to get out of there then go back and reapply with the checkbox back in there.

when you right click on the shortcutted icon from the actual exe you wont see ie properties ect.

rightclick your desktop, choose properties, then choose desktop tab, then click on customize my desktop button, put a checkmark on ie on the general tab, accept all dialogs, ie icon should appear now on the desktop

Don't worry - you deleted the icon, not the actual program itself. Usually the file is under your Program Files folder. On the start button, right-click and click explore. The C drive folder should be open (if not, just open it) and among the sub-categories you should be able to find Program Files. Look for the Internet Explorer folder and there should be another icon in that folder which you can just simply click and drag onto the desktop, creating a new icon opening the same program. If it's not there, go to the site where you installed it, and check where you saved the file to. Close it, and go to the folder via the Explore feature.

ONE way, is to go to start, gho to search, and type in, internet explorer.

when the searches come up,..pick one of the shortcuts and copy/paste....or minmize the window and slide it off the search window to the desktop.

good luck

You can get the icon from the Internet Explorer folder of program files in the c:\

Just copy the icon and paste it in your desktop. Or right click on it and send a shortcut to your desktop.

I'm still using IE version 6, but I'm pretty sure this will work for you.

Right click on your desktop to create a shortcut. For the path in that shortcut enter:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"

You can name the shortcut whatever you like, more than likely calling it IE.

This will create a shortcut/icon on your desktop so that when you double click on it, it SHOULD start up your copy of IE.

If, for some strange reason, it doesn't, go to windows explorer and look for your startup exe for IE7. Set your path in the shortcut to that and you should be good to go.

Good luck.

Don't you have IE from the 'Start' and the programs?
Ctrl-F5

if you have the icon on the start bar or the quick launch bar you can drag holding CTRL to the desktop, it will then copy the IE icon onto the desktop for you.

its just a short cut

Go to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

right click and send to desk top as short cut
