Kde vs Gnome!?

Which one do u like better?

I like Kde, why? Cause its faster, very stable, feature rich, customizable and most importantly its prettier.

I doubt anyone can beat kde's looks though, here is mine ;)

Configuration:

KDE - many wizard tools, almost everything what one need is integrated into GUI, a lot of software especially optimized to flawlessly work with it.

GNOME - less wizards, software came from different sources, AFAIK it stands on GNU license...I know that only on GNOME one could mount PocketPC as drive xD

Look & feel:

KDE - many eye candy build-in options

GNOME one need to download additional engines to run new themes, though system might be more personalized

Speed & usage:

when it comes to speed KDE can be faster for average user - especially when just using build in apps. GNOME - slower but allows better control IMHO over system

Sum up:

In other words...can work on both, however I prefer KDE as it seems to be less annoying during configuration & usage while GNOME ability to look almost identical to any other OS doesn't sound for me like most important element of GUI.

Hey Snake!

Here we go....

In my experience it seems that a lot of peeps who like sparse and minimalistic desktops, are more inclined to use Gnome-

While those on KDE look for a more configurable foundation. Seems most KDE'ers are prone to poke and change things. I started back on Gnome simply because I suspected it would fit better on the older hardware I was using and not be a distraction to my goal of learning what I needed to.

I recently converted an ol past GF to Linux, and she wanted Mint and a Gnome environment. Now mind you, this is AFTER seeing live CDs of your fav, plus PCLOS Gnome, Sabayon loop2, Ubu and 1 or 2 more. No accounting for taste, huh? She likes the spartan theme (oh, a big Mac user btw...). I am a big Gnome user, and honestly, I haven't seen as much of an advantage as I thought on my old beaters. I hafta say, KDE has bought some bling to the Linux party. Looking good is not a sin! LOL! When I load up my 5.3 project, it'll be running KDE cause I DO need a change. Hey, whatever works and gets ya productive.Note that Windows will not be having this discussion...

Edit:

Sami! Luv it when gals talk geek! Kudos!

kde because it just has more options. You right click on stuff in gnome and nothing happens. You do it in kde and all the tools are there.
