I downloaded it via the website but just shows all these files in my computer, none of which show the icon it just shows icons and in the install icon it says
"To compile and install, go in the source directory and type:

mkdir build;cd build
cmake ..
(If you want to install in a different path, use instead:
cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/install/path)
make

To install, become root:

sudo make install
(enter root password at prompt)

Once installed, you can start Kdenlive by typing "kdenlive".

Note that you should also install MLT to do anything useful with Kdenlive. See
the README file for details.

Have Fun!"

Don't you have iMovie?

Kdenlive is a video editor similar to iMovie.

The instructions on their website state that Mac users need to install the MacPorts and then run the following commands in the terminal.

sudo port -d selfupdate

sudo port -u upgrade outdated

sudo port install kdenlive

I recommend that you install the MacPorts rather than compiling from source. It will be much easier for you because it will take care of any dependencies that you might need for kdenlive.

If you want to install from source then you will need to open up the terminal and type the following

cd (path of the kdenlive directory)

mkdir build

cd build

and so on as you have copied and pasted in this question.

Kdenlive is not a true OS X application. It is a UNIX application that is available as an OS X port. That means it started as an app for one operating system and was compiled by someone to run in another. Some developers use the term port rather loosely and their ports are still not fully compiled. I would prefer to call the Kdenlive port a partial port. You still have to "push-start" it. An example of a fully compiled port is Gimp.

This may come as a shock to some people who have heard that OS X is UNIX. Well, it is added to UNIX. If you didn't have OS X added over UNIX, you would have to spend about 50 hours learning how to work your brand new computer instead of 50 minutes.

Two things are needed to run Kdenlive: X-11 which is an interface that can run many Windows-like apps when they were never properly ported to OS X, and Mac Ports. The latter is software to overcome the incompleteness of many UNIX to OS X ports. X-11 is pre-installed with OS 10.5 (Leopard), but is an optional install with OS 10.4. It's just info though, since Kdenlive needs OS 10.5 or later anyhow.

Installing MacPorts is a more complicated mess. Follow their instructions at the link below. After you are done, you will appreciate why you are using OS X instead of Linux where you might have to go through a similar or even much more complex circus of compilation for many apps.

you are able to acquire the working device illegally, yet you won't be able to set up it on a residing house windows computer. you are able to purely set up mac os on apple computers (and a few hacked computers). in case you have an apple computer you are able to set up any working device freely (in case you have them). you do not would desire to purchase parallels.. there is loose utility obtainable. solar microsystems made one, virtualbox, which permits the two working structures to run on a similar time, and bootcamp enables you to alter working device every time you reset your computer--boot up.
