I have a new WinVista Home Premium computer.
2.0ghz Core 2
2 gb Ram
80gb 7200rpm HDD
ATI Mobility Radeon x1400
The print dialog takes as long as 30secs, and then it takes at least another 30-45 to start printing. I have the same problem in OpenOffice, MS Office(2003/2007), and others.

I have also noticed some applications, such as MS Access form/report designer, draw very slow. In MS Access(2003/2007) after I move a control in the form/report designer it takes several seconds before I can do anything else.

After the problems with Access 2003 I downloaded, and tried MS Office 2007, but it did the same thing.

Is this a common problem? What can I do to fix it?

Install about 4 gigs of RAM.

That is about all you can do for that operating system.

Yes, it is it a common problem with Vista.

It can only be fixed by adding massive amounts of RAM.

Vista is a huge resource hog.

Just wait until you try to defrag or run a virus scan, holy smokes, that takes way too many hours.

I had the "ultimate edition" on my PC at work and I had to revert back to XP because it was taking me way too long to get anything done with Vista.

Has it consistently been sluggish? Or has it in basic terms develop into sluggish right away? If the former, then you definitely in all likelihood want to improve your hardware. If the latter, you would have a pandemic or some thing that's hogging device elements, so that you will be wanting to eliminate it using anti-virus application or anti-secret agent ware application. in case you won't be able to eliminate it, you ought to need to have residing house windows Vista reinstalled.
