I just got an e-mail with an attached PDF file, and it's a form. The sender told me to fill it out and attach it back to her.
I opened the PDF file with Adobe Reader 9 and when I double click on the fields that need to be filled in the little line flashes but I am unable to type anything.
In the document preferences it says Filling of form fields is allowed, so how can I actually fill in the form?
Help would be appreciated very much, thank you.

Hey, you can't use adobe reader to fill pdf forms, but you can use acrobat to do that. If you don't want to purchase it, here I provide you an economical method:

1. use a converter like anybiz to convert pdf to word, and fill out the form in MS word.

2. create the pdf form from the word document with cutepdf writer or Microsoft Save As PDF add-in.

Software you need are listed below in the source, check it out and hope it helps. :-)

According to the help file this is how to fill in a form:

Fill in forms

Fill in, save, and electronically submit forms easily, even on mobile devices. Start by selecting either the Hand tool or the Select tool. When you place the pointer over an interactive form field, the pointer icon changes to one of the following:

•The Pointing Finger or Pointing Hand Plus tool appears when the pointer is over a button, radio button, check box, or item in a list.

•The Select tool appears when you can select an item in a list.

•The I-beam tool appears when you can type text into a form field.

Move from one form field to the next by pressing the Tab key. To delete an entry, press the Esc key. When you finish the form, click the Submit Form button. If the PDF author has enabled the local save capability on the form, you can also choose File > Save As to rename the file and save the form with your information without submitting it.

Hi, berry, PDF file cannot be edited directly without a PDF editor like Adobe Acrobat, which will cost you hundreds of dollars.

But you can try another way, convert pdf to easy-editable word format, edit pdf in word document, create word back to pdf format and send it as pdf attachment. This way is a bit trouble, but can save your money, and I always use this way.

Share with you a pdf to word converter i used, simpo pdf to word, it's great in converting pdf to word, with tables preserved exactly from pdf to word. And their free pdf creator can help to create word to pdf.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is in simple terms that, a READER. you won't be able to edit. in case you opt to create or edit PDF information you like the "complete" version of Adobe Acrobat, no longer in elementary terms the reader version. -or you like yet another application with PDF study & write ability, there are some, yet no longer lots of those via fact the applying builders might ought to pay a royalty to Adobe to industry those, and maximum opt to no longer accomplish that.
