I'm running Windows XP Professional on an Averatec 2200 series. I had been trying to change the overall scheme of the XP to be similar to Vista's, and had replaced some essential file extensions, shell32.dll and msgina.dll.

After booting the laptop, winlogon.exe prompts, "The procedure entry point SHBrowseForFolderW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHELL32.dll.

The only options from there are "OK" and the "X" button. When I click either of them, lsass.exe prompts the exact same thing, and has the same follow-up options.

Then, a window called "User Interface Failure" prompts,

"The Logon User Interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load.

Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL, or restore the original DLL."

The only option here is to restart.

Now, I have searched plenty of sites via google, but nothing has come up similar to this situation. I was wondering what I should/could do about this, with as little financial expenses as possible. I cannot log into the system at all, nor can I run a command prompt. Any suggestions?

a speedy answer to this difficulty could be to apply a magnificent freeware application that blanks the passwords. Its observed as Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, Bootdisk / CD you need to make the desktops first boot determination the DVD/CD optical force and not from the frustrating disk. frequently while the pc boots you are able to hit F2 or F10 or in spite of to get into the BIOS setup to elect this, till that's additionally password secure wherein then you definately will ought to attempt another stuff yet maximum individuals do no longer password safeguard theirs. acquire this technique under, extract the .zip report and there will be a .iso report there. Burn the .iso report to CD and initiate the laptop with this. enable me know in case you elect any further help.
