how do i edit a config file
i have a config file and i want to change the name.

You can use either Notepad.exe or WordPad.exe -- but be careful. I usually save the file I want to edit with a new name. For example, I plan to edit "thisfile.ini" -- so I copy the file to "thisfile.save" first, then I edit thisfile.ini and make my changes. If I screw things up royally I can always delete the .ini file and rename my .save file.

Make a copy of the config file and put it on the desktop. Then, use Notepad. In notepad, you can edit the config file including its name, the extension, and whatever contents that is in it. Once you got everything situated, then you can take that file and put it in its original location, and restart the computer. If it does not work, then it was best not to mess with that particular file, and revert back to the original

ummmm, or like wordpad. Just type the file name with full directory in the run window thing. or like start-menu-button and R (same time).
