please insert a disk into drive E. its very weird (click for more)?

I have a 05 mir.soft window xp media cen.edition. It works great. CDs DVDs and everything else used to work great. until 1day i deleted a game that i installed. when i tried to reinstall it the pc wouldn't read the inst.CD. I got the same game again but a newer ver. and it worked. Now the pc won't read CDs (anykind). it only reads DVD's.

I also bought a camera recently and the pc won't read the instalation CD.
i try to run it but it says (pls insert a disk into drive E.) the same message for cd's.
The pc only got one Drive(tray).
please help me.

best way is to just replace the cd drive. where i'm at, walmart sells a good cd burner/dvd reader (unless you HAVE to have dvd burning capability) for about 30 bucks (lite-on brand). the dvd burner of the same brand is about 50, and i can tell you from experience that although its not very well heard of, its an excellent brand and i personally love it. get a drive, email me or something and i might be able to kinda walk you through how to install. its quite easy really.

Chances are the drive is broken. If it can read DVDs but not CDs then the CD laser or pickup may need cleaning or it is damaged. You may need to replace the whole drive as a repair is not possible. The good news is that these only cost about £25 ($50) so not a great expense.

cd lens might be gummed up with dust and the like - use a lens cleaner or it might have packed in - in which case buy a new one

drive E: is a usb port there is something wrong with your CD drive in your computer.
