i want to make a data sheet with people's info - for instance it will have names and addresses. i tried a spreadsheet but when i put address then tab over to the next column it won't let me put several lines in one box. it just makes it really long and one line. any suggestions? the only software i have is works and spreadsheet i think. thanks.

To enter multiple lines in a cell, hold the Alt key and Enter. This adds a line break in the cell.

Wrap Text will not work well for this situation since it will break the line depending on the column width rather than at the end of the name, street address, etc.

For Microsoft 2007, though I think it's the same for older versions

Highlight the columns you want multiple lines in and right click on one of those highlighted cells.

Click on Format Cells...

Click on the Alignment tab

Under text control check the Wrap Text

or

Highlight the columns you want multiple lines in and right click on one of those highlighted cells.

for Excel 2007

On the Homes tab

For Alignment

Click Wrap Text

It is better to have every line of the address in a separate cell and the number separate as well: that way you can search for any of the items. Wrap Text is the best way to get multiple lines
