Any suggestions? What do you think is the best? Im a complete beginner and want to do it as a hobby.

Concept Art and Illustration:

Krita; $0; free alternative to Corel Painter ($430).

Drawing and Freeform Painting:

MyPaint; $0; free alternative to ArtRage ($50) and Paint Tool SAI ($50).

Krita is the big sister of MyPaint. If you want a simple UI, with less distraction, made for freeform drawing and painting then choose MyPaint. If you want more features, a more complex UI, and selection tools then choose Krita.

Gimp is probably the best of all of the free versions.
