I'm trying to transfer photos (jpg) from my Mac desktop to a photo frame that uses an SD card. Error says picture files cannot be moved because SD card cannot be modified. What can I do short of returning the photo frame?

Back up the data on the SD onto your mac.

Open "Disk Utility"

Select your SD card on the left.

Select "Partition" tab

Select 1 partition under volume scheme

Click options.

Click "Master Boot Record"

Under Format select MS-Dos (Fat)

Name it and click apply.

now you can read and write your SD on a mac and PC. Most mobile devices and cameras use Fat format.

Check to see if you're photos are the same format as the photo frame. If the format on the SD is not the same it will not transfer.

It seems like your SD card may be formatted to a different OS or not formatted for the Mac OS correctly. Try reformatting it.

The photos may be lost. If you can't access you can always try reformatting it, to see if the card will be useable in the future. Take it to a photlab first before you reformatt it as it will erase all the photos for sure. They may have a way of getting the photos off so check with them first.

The SD card probably has a small latch to make it write protected.
