I tried using header/footer on Microsoft word, but it's not coming out right. On the top right hand corner of the 1st pg, I wrote my last name and page # 1. When I go to the 2nd pg, I try to change it to my last name and page # 2, but then the 1st page gets changed too. It matches with the 2nd page. How do I get both of the pages to say pg 1, pg 2, pg 3, etc....help?

In Word versions prior to Word 2007:

1. Click the Insert->Page Numbers menu item.

2. Set the Position and Alignment list boxes to put the page number where you want it.

3. Click OK.

To add text to the header, double click in the header on the first page and enter the text. Double click outside the header, or close the Header and Footer pop-up menu to get out.

In Word 2007 and 2010:

1. On the Insert tab of the Ribbon, click Page Number in the Header and Footer group.

2. Select Top of Page and pick a format.

To add text to the header, double click in the header on the first page and enter the text. Double click outside the header to get out.

Hope that helps.

you don't have to change each page, it works as 'master' and recopies itself for each additional page, and automatically numbers the pages for you.

Use the "insert page #" option for headers, don't just type in "1" or "2".
