can anyone tell me a quick way to compress my pictures. My pictures folder contains about 200 pics. I haven't compressed any of them so need a quick way to compress them rather than do them individually, please help.

Right click the pictures folder, press lowest (i believe it is settings or something) button, there somewhere down there's a button saying advanced or something, tick the 3rd box (it's says something like compress files inside to save disk space)
Good luck, lol

I would use a tool like win zip but please note that you will only notice a saving if the pictures are not already in a compressed state. For example most pictures these dates are .jpeg or .jpg and these are already compresses so you will not get any saving unless you reduce the quality of the picture itself and this can be done with any photo editing tool

PIXresizer
is a photo resizing program to easily create web and email friendly versions of your images with reduced file sizes. The reduced files are saved in a different folder, so your original images are not altered at all. PIXresizer offers several different resizing methods to choose from and can automatically recognize image sizes to calculate the best fit. In addition, it can convert between image formats (JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG and TIFF), rotate images, convert to grayscale and resize multiple images in batch mode.
Have a look at Picasa to organize and edit; works terrific.

There are a handful of free image editors that can edit a whole heap of images at once (batch mode) but if you regularly need to edit batches of images then I'd recommend XnView - http://pagesperso-orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enxnview.html , it offers features that don't seem to be available in others (such as automatically cropping an image based on a color or a choice of sampling algorithm), but it is overkill if all you need is simple compression.
