Does anyone know if it's possible to convert a SWF file which you downloaded from somewhere else into an AVI or MOV file with Macromedia Flash 8?

I have Flash 8 Pro and want to convert Homestarrunner cartoons (SWF) to AVI or MOV videos for my ipod. I downloaded the original videos from the site using the "download embedded" add-on in firefox, but now i wan't to view 'em in my ipod. So is there some kind of process that can be used to export the SWF files to AVI or MOV format? It doesn't have to be a direct command. Even a complicated process will do.

Oh, if you recommend a 3rd party app, lications, well, all the freewares don't work properly and i'm not willing to spend hundreds of bucks for this.

P.S. I've just got Flash & i've no clue on anything so you'll have to guide me through it.

you can convert other's swf file to avi with Flash 8, you can do that if you make the swf file, you'd better use a converter to do that, I always use Moyea SWF to Video Converter Std to do that, it is not expensive, and you can have a free trial of it on http://www.swfkits.com/swf_to_avi/

I don't think it is done using the Flash 8 program itself, but there are plenty of programs out there to do the job..

Just did a quick search and got this:

http://www.winavi.com/swf-to-avi.htm

Just search "Free swf to avi mov converter"

Hope this helps & good luck,

what size are the files and what size is the dvd? you have 4.38 gig available on a blank single layer If the total of the 8 files exceeds this they wont fit. you would have to re-encode them to a lower bitrate (which will decrease their quality but also their file size) If you are converting the avi's to mpeg2 to play on a stand alone dvd player you can only fit about 2-3 hours of play time in the conversion or the quality will radically decrease.
